Tubular chitosan device for use as prosthesis coating in vascular surgery

Chitosan is a natural, biodegradable, non-toxic and biocompatible polymer, with characteristics such as healing, hemostatic, antimicrobial agent, among others. Therefore, the aim of this study to develop tubular chitosan device for use prosthetic coating application in vascular surgery. The wires were obtained by spinning method 2M sodium hydroxide coagulant solution (NaOH) used form screens reinforcement structure obtain tubes. In order characterize tubes, optical microscopy, contact angle, degree swelling, vitro biodegradation, cytotoxicity tensile strength used. results indicated that tubes have uniformity over entire length resistance trace, tube reinforced mesh presented greater deformation, while wire higher value rupture stress. swelling was mesh. As biodegradation test, it observed lysozyme samples showed loss mass test confirmed cell viability material, concluding are promising surgeries.
